A research paper by Professor Joo Ji-young of Gachon University’s College of Nursing has been selected as the Top Cited Article among papers published in 2023 by Nursing Open, a journal from Wiley Publishers (Journal Citation Reports; Clarivate).

The award-winning paper, titled “Fragmented care and chronic illness patient outcomes: A systematic review,” was published as a sole-authored article in Nursing Open in 2023.

In this study, Professor Joo systematically reviewed the impact of fragmented and short-term care services on patients with chronic illnesses, highlighting how such care leads to increased hospital utilization and rising healthcare costs. The research emphasizes the importance of sustainable, comprehensive, and patient-centered nursing care.

This paper ranks among the top 10 most cited articles globally for the year, and marks the third time Professor Joo has been recognized by Wiley Publishers for her research, having previously received both Top Cited Article and Top Downloaded Article honors for other publications.
